Every good deed you do earns a Gold Star on your permanent record.
Stars reward you for taking action with recognition. Doing little
things adds up to make big differences.
Earn Stars By Taking Action
Most actions are worth at least 1 star. These include:
- Posting a new node of content like a blog entry, book page, event, skill, etc. is worth 1 gold star
- Posting a comment is worth 1 gold star
- Posting a mission is worth 5 gold stars
- Recruit your friends with invite emails and referral links to earn 10 stars per recruit plus 1% of their future stars.
The easiest way to help the Spread Empowerment campaign is by inviting your friends and colleagues to join. You can track who joins up and you earn 1 star for each person you invite and 10 stars for each one that joins.
All other forms of media can be connected with the invitation system via coded URL referral codes.
This way, you can put your code on all your materials from your
T-shirts to your cards. Referral codes enable new users to get started
right away subscribed to your groups and added to your friends list.

Anyone who clicks your referral code is sent to create a new account.
For each user who signs up with your code, you earn points.
What Are Gold Stars Good For?
Ranking
You can see where you stack up against the most prolific do-gooders.
Gold stars are a reflection of good things you've done which were good
for their own sake. Points are just a reflection of the good you've
done. However, there may be rewards offered by The Empowerment and
other groups and people in the future.
Leveling Up

Empowerment is going to recognize your constant progress with leveling up much like World of Warcraft does with experience points and character levels. This feature is under development.
The Over 9000 Contest
There will be a contest to see who can earn more points than Alex
Peake, Empowerment's founder and author of most of these pages. Rules
and prizes are to be decided.
Future Ideas For Stars
In the future, there will be many many more ways to earn gold stars.
- You will be able to earn points from people voting up your nodes and comments.
- You will be able to earn points by volunteering hours of your time as people now do for charitable groups.
- You will be able to earn points by donating to Empowerment or other groups and people.
You will be able to do more than earn stars by recruiting people:
- You will earn a fraction of the points earned by your referred and invited recruits.
- You will be able to earn points from the actions of members of a group.
- You will be able to track the qualitative impact of your recruits as well as their quantitative points.
You will be able to give stars as well as receive them:
- You will be able to thank someone with a message and award them some of your points.
- You will be able to award points for desired actions.
There will be new ways to deal with stars.
- You will be able to create special categories of points.
- Points
will be filterable by certain taxonomies so that each group could track
its own points totals to rank contributors in different categories.
- For example, you could track Spreading, Writing, Commenting and Popularity points subtotals as well as your total.
- You will be able to view points totals for campaigns, groups and other things.
Stars Are Subject To Recalculation
The star values of actions are subject to change in the future and your
star total may go up or down to reflect the new valuation but your
actions will not be forgotten.
