Game Developers Conference, San Jose CA

The Serious Games Summit at GDC is a great venue for us to present our ideas on serious games.

We will build a presentation and propose to give it at GDC SGS 2007.

Learning & Instructional Theory
At the heart of any serious game is a combination of exciting new ideas about learning and well-defined existing instructional methodologies. This track illustrates how the worlds of cognitive science, instructional design, and game development can work in unison to build better learning environments, applications, and methods. It also analyzes the inherent learning in games and the many meta-game aspects to learning that inhabit the field.

Empowerment Days

Empowerment Days are international or local party days for celebrating the activism community. Every great historical movement deserves at least one holiday. Why be stingy? Empowerment can celebrate many. Empowerment Days function as regular meetups to gather people from different activist groups together for networking and fun. Empowerment days are good opportunities to bring new people out to get empowered and for long-time activists to have fun and develop themselves.

Empowerment Meetups

Empowerment meetup events are great ways to meet other activists and spread the word. You can meet in a public place.

ACTFOR MEETUPS

EmpowerMeet

Burning Man is an excellent venue for annual ACTFOR meetups. It’s a destination in and of itself, so it provides multiple reasons for people to show up. It is a bit extreme, which may scare away some people, but with the provisioning of ACTSPEC facilities and the training on-site in survival skills, nobody should feel intimidated or uncertain about handling the desert.

Burning Man Theme Camp Rules

Buring Man Installations The Theme Camp Registration deadline for Burning Man 2004 is July 1st, 2004 at midnight. Burning Man Villages Theme Camps150 People+ Theme Camps must be interactive. They should include activities, events or service to the Burning Man Community in general. In most cases creating a chill dome with music and relaxation is not enough to receive placement. Some camp members should be at your camp at all times in order for your activities to be as accessible to others as possible

The annual Electronic Entertainment Expo in Los Angeles is an important opportunity for promoting Sim Empowerment.

AA will be a parody of America’s Army. The crowd cheers the army booth and demonstrates a parrallel “action demo” deploying an ACTSPEC mobile operations center.

Empowerment Parties

Empowerment Parties are meetups where people gather to celebrate and have fun and spread good stuff. Disc swapping, movie watching, music playing, dancing, all are good for empowerment parties. Parties are not the same as meetings, they are informal and fun and social for their own sake.
